Tool Design Engineer I designs a wide variety of tools consistent with standard tool configuration, including cutting and forming tools. Determines tool specifications and requirements by interfacing with manufacturing staff to determine the best design for the tool. Being a Tool Design Engineer I performs calculations to determine exact dimensions, materials required and cost of the tools. Works with engineering to identify problems with performance or tool life and recommends solutions or enhancements. Additionally, Tool Design Engineer I typically requires a bachelor's degree.
